Music & Entertainment Industry Studies (MEIS) at CU Denver offers music industry programs with a contemporary focus, including songwriting, production, and business. Students develop skills in contemporary songwriting and the modern music business.
Job DescriptionAs a Songwriting Instructor you will teach core and advanced courses, mentor aspiring professionals, and contribute to a program focused on the contemporary music industry.
Teaching Responsibilities- Teaching load: 12 credit hours per semester (24 credit hours per academic year).
- Core courses:
Songwriting for Television and Film, Songwriting Production, Singer/Songwriter Ensemble, applied upper-division songwriting lessons, Music Business Analysis, Music Supervision and Sync. - Advanced courses:
Introduction to Audio Production, Concert Promotion, Music and Entertainment Marketing, and applied lessons in guitar, voice, or piano.
- Master’s degree in Music or related advanced degree, or equivalent tested experience (recording with a reputable national/international label, performer/composerikor/arr), // continue with the rest of the qualification bullet content as in the original text
- Three years teaching experience at college or comparable level.
- Demonstrated ability to teach individual lessons in singer-songwriter, guitar, or voice at intermediate‑advanced levels.
- Demonstrated ability to teach multiple genres:
Pop, Rock, R&B, EDM, etc. - Demonstrated ability to teach contemporary music theory concepts.
- Experience with Logic Pro track recording and other DAW software.
- Experience in music publishing, sync licensing, and media placement.
- Experience collaborating verfügen cross‑disciplinary initiatives.
- Proven experience establishing effective working relationships with a diverse population at all levels of the institution and community.
- Ability to communicate positively and effectively across various modalities.
- Ability to balance multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
