The University of Denver’s Division of Community Support & Engagement (DCSE) is seeking an Associate Director for Community Connections and Engagement. The AD reports to both the Director of Multifaith and Pluralistic Engagement and to the Director of Community Connections. The role supports initiatives that promote multi‑faith and pluralistic engagement and builds community connections across faculty, staff, and students. It is a full‑time, 1.0 FTE position that requires evening and weekend availability.
EssentialFunctions
- Provide programmatic framing, oversight, and training for students as part of a renovated dialogue program, collaborating with units across the university.
- Support creation and implementation of trainings centering on pluralism in the academy and workforce for students and staff.
- Cultivate collaborative work with practitioners across the university, including the National Academy of Freedom of Expression and 4D.
- Assist the Director of Multifaith Engagement in creating, cultivating, and evaluating interfaith programming for faculty and staff.
- Create connections with the Office of Spiritual Life and DCSE to implement consistent services for all members of DU’s religious, spiritual, and faith‑based community.
- Support this area of work through platform utilization of Crimson Connect and social media apps.
- Assist in the administration of assessment/evaluation for this area of work in alignment with divisional expectations and values.
- Provide general support for the Director of Multifaith & Pluralistic Engagement.
- Support student programming and initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Community Connections and Engagement.
- Oversee purchasing, inventory, and materials for affinity+ groups in collaboration with the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Partnerships and Operations.
- Provide support and guidance to student affinity+ groups alongside the Director of Community Connections and Engagement.
- Create and implement trainings for affinity+ group leadership in partnership with the Office of Student Engagement.
- Support the Director of Community Connections in the administration of assessment/evaluation for these areas of work.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programs that connect students to faculty, staff, and alumni to foster belonging to the wider DU community.
- Support the Director of Community Connections in developing a hub approach to student engagement with faculty, staff, and alumni.
- Develop and coordinate the DCSE Ambassadors program.
- Provide general support for the Director of Community Connections and Engagement.
- All members of the DCSE team support and engage with the DU community to create inclusive education and work spaces, the work of dialogue, pluralism, and de‑escalation.
- Manage DCSE’s use of Crimson Connect.
- Support DCSE in planning and hosting signature and large‑scale events.
- All other Division support as needed.
- Master’s degree from an accredited university program.
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant education and/or work experience related to university processes and engagements.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships with university communities and organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to implement community programming events and to work productively with individuals across campus to make university events inclusive and successful.
- Ability to maintain a positive and productive working relationship with university and local communities.
- Three (3) years of experience working in community engagement in higher education.
- Work experience in higher education or a similar educational setting.
- Standard office environment.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often; stress levels moderate to high.
- Noise level quiet to moderate.
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
