Job DescriptionA Long-Term Substitute is responsible for teaching an appropriate grade level standard-based curriculum to students, following school/district approved curriculum while the classroom teacher is absent for an extended period of time.

- Salary: $30.765 per hour.

- Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
- Monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rules of conduct and behavior; reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
- Observes, evaluates, reports, and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Prepares educational course outlines, objectives, and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
- Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.
- Presents subject matter to students using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style to meet student learning needs.
- Instructs students individually and in groups using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
- Prepares, administers, assigns, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress; reports grades using District software.
- Prepares student, attendance, and activity reports as required by administrators.
- Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems and coordinates instructional efforts.
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
- Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. DPS accepts a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days.
- Commitment to racial and educational equity and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high-quality education.
- Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, with or without accommodations.
