  • Salary Range:
    New hires will be set at $22.00 per hour. The salary range for internal candidates is $22.00 to $26.290 per hour.  for more information on compensation for these roles.

What You’ll Do
  • Provides services to one or more individual students as outlined in their Individual Education Plan (IEP), including supporting academic, health, daily living, and behavioral needs.
  • Monitors classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives and learning goals.
  • Provides daily living procedures such as toileting, diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene as trained.
  • Performs medically invasive tasks (e.g., tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning) following universal precautions and as trained and directed.
  • Lifts and transports students using appropriate equipment and technique per District training. Supports implementation of student behavior intervention plans, crisis plans, and health care plans.
  • Implements student accommodations and modifications as outlined in the IEP in both academic and nonacademic settings throughout the school day.
  • Under the supervision of a special education teacher, collects data on students’ IEP goals.
  • Communicates and coordinates with students and parents about routine educational issues at the direction of the supervising special education teacher.
What You’ll Need
  • Qualifications:

    See paraprofessional qualifications guide referenced by DPS for acceptable qualifications for this role.
  • Specialized training in invasive procedures, such as tube feeding and catheterization, will be provided as the assignment requires.
  • Must pass District approved written and physical exams covering de-escalation and physical restraint training, on an annual basis.
  • Required training must be completed within 75 days of initial hire.
  • If transporting students or using a vehicle, must have a valid Colorado driver’s license or be able to obtain one; meet the District’s insurability requirements.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while employed by DPS.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
