Overview
The Department of Nutrition at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for temporary, part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. The primary responsibility is to teach one or more credit hours as determined by the department. Areas of teaching include undergraduate and graduate courses, including Introduction to Nutrition, Medical Nutrition Therapy, Community Nutrition, and others. Responsibilities- Teach one or more credit hours as determined by the Department of Nutrition, in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
- Provide instruction for undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned (e.g., Introduction to Nutrition, Medical Nutrition Therapy, Community Nutrition, and other courses).
- Be available for student consultation outside of class (in-person or remotely).
- Conduct student assessments as prescribed by the curriculum and adhere to University and Department policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate ability to adapt and learn new modes of instruction and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
- Master’s degree in Nutrition or related field to teach undergraduate level courses.
- Doctorate in Nutrition or related field to teach graduate level courses.
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
- Two years of teaching experience relevant to one or more content areas
- Previous experience teaching in an online environment
- Experience with diverse, historically underrepresented and/or first-generation college students
- Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester-by-semester basis.
- Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program. All teaching assignments depend on budget and enrollment.
- Candidates are expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire.
The final salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate determined by university policy.
