Associate Professor of the Practice of Law, Bar Success Program
The University of Denver Sturm College of Law seeks applications from individuals to serve as Associate Professor of the Practice of Law and Director of the Bar Success Program.
Position DescriptionPosition to lead the Bar Success Program, including the development, management, and staffing of all curricular and co‑curricular offerings designed to enhance students’ knowledge and skills relevant to the bar examination. Responsibilities include teaching the postgraduate Bar Success Program, collaborating with the Assistant Director of Bar Success, working with the Director of the Academic Achievement Program on bar exam performance initiatives, harmonizing in‑house curricular with third‑party vendors, analyzing bar passage data, furnishing individualized advice to bar‑takers, managing vendor relationships, and supervising the program budget.
EssentialFunctions
- Lead the Bar Success Program including development, management, and staffing of curricular and co‑curricular offerings.
- Teach the postgraduate Bar Success Program in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Bar Success and other instructors, coaches, and advisors.
- Work with the Director of the Academic Achievement Program on initiatives designed to foster strong performance on the bar exam, and with other faculty members regarding the effective teaching of skills and subjects tested on the bar, including the Next Gen Bar Exam.
- Harmonize the law school's in‑house curricular and co‑curricular programs with the offerings of third‑party vendors, and foster effective engagement by students and graduates with such programs and offerings.
- Compile and analyze data related to bar passage, including for purposes of programmatic enhancement, donor stewardship, and accreditation‑related reporting.
- Furnish bar‑takers with individualized and effective advice about their professional licensure options.
- Manage relationships with vendors relevant to the Bar Success Program.
- Supervise the budget of the Bar Success Program.
- J.D. degree (or its equivalent)
- Outstanding academic record
- 4+ years of professional experience in the field of bar preparation
- Standard office environment.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
- Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.
While the University’s administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. Salary Grade NumberThe salary grade for the position is UC.
Salary RangeThe salary range for the Associate Professor position is $115,000–$125,000. The salary rate for the Director of the Bar Success Program is $25,000.
