The College of Arts & Media (CAM) at CU Denver is Colorado’s first college dedicated to arts and entertainment, blending traditional art forms with modern technology.
The Visual Arts Department in the College of Arts & Media invites applicants for the Lecturer in Art History position. We seek individuals committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment and engaging with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
The Art History program in CU Denver introduces students to developments in art history, developing skills in critical thinking, writing, research, and visual culture. The curriculum culminates in a capstone seminar and thesis project.
This posting creates a pool of part-time, non-tenure-track lecturers to teach up to two courses per term as needed. Appointments are temporary, less than 50% time, and made on a term-by-term basis based on departmental needs.
What you will do:The Art History program seeks student-centered art historians to teach undergraduate courses, including introductory/survey and upper-division courses, based on expertise and program needs, during Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.
Teaching responsibilities include:- Preparing syllabi, lectures, presentations, student assignments
- Evaluating student work
- Tracking attendance and progress
- Managing courses on Canvas
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications didates with broad knowledge in art history and ability to teach courses such as Art History (Ancient to Medieval), Renaissance to Contemporary, Contemporary Art, or Modern Design are preferred. Candidates who are ABD or hold an MA with recent university teaching experience will be considered. Preference given to those interested in engaging with diverse student populations in an urban research university setting.
Preferred Qualifications:PhD in art history, visual studies, architecture, museum studies, or related discipline, especially for candidates in Colorado.
