GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is responsible for delivering instruction for the Machining Technologies program, and assisting the Manufacturing Chair in ensuring courses and project developments are aligned with industry needs, developing, growing, and reporting on the Machine Technologies program discipline. Utilizing the lab coordinator and work studies will address basic maintenance on machine equipment. The workload is 15 credits split between teaching and reassign time for discipline.

This position must exhibit effective leadership in and out of the classroom, collaborate with Chair to develop goals and objectives for the department, and actively participate in providing a positive learning environment for students.

This is a full-time, 9-month faculty position. Opportunities to teach courses or assume additional duties during the summer term may be available for additional compensation; however, such assignments are not guaranteed and are contingent upon departmental needs.

Primary Duties Instructional Duties
  • Assist in developing class schedules.
  • Maintain accurate student records and comply with reporting requirements.
  • Ensure that master syllabi are used by all instructors.
  • Coordinate (with other faculty) textbook selection and ordering.
  • Support efforts ensuring program discipline pathways are updated and aligned to industry need.
  • Support verification that catalog content is accurate
  • Collaborate with the program advisor and pathways coordinator to advise students in career pathways.
  • Utilize retention strategies to maximize student success.
  • Provide a safe and secure learning environment.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining the program advisory committee.
  • Support adjunct recruiting and hiring, interview, and recommend adjunct instructors and fulltime faculty for hire.
  • Manage, mentor, and monitor adjunct instructors in the program.
  • Support efforts to ensure faculty are informed of and following CCD’s grading policies.
  • Collaborate with Chair and deans to facilitate articulation and transfer agreements, as needed.
  • Participate in targeted professional development activities, certifications, and committees.
  • Maintain and enhance professional expertise in the field by networking and developing partnerships.
  • Make informed, fair and effective decisions based on thorough understanding of situations.
  • Take action to promote work quality, continuous improvement, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support efforts to coordinate shop activities including work-study assignments, low-volume production, community requests, machine maintenance, and other related activities
  • Effectively prepare and teach assigned classes at the scheduled time and place.
  • Maintain posted office hours.
  • Conduct timely assessments of student work and achievement.
  • Respect others and create opportunities for inclusion and valuing differences.
  • Produce learning content as needed.
Service to the College

Service includes activities that fulfill the mission and goals of the college outside of the classroom. These may include but are not limited to departmental service activities like curriculum coordination and development, assessment of student learning, administrative assignments, and committee work.
