Position: Bilingual Compensation Insurance Specialist I.

Bilingual Compensation Insurance Specialist I

This position serves as the front line of communication to disseminate accurate information to injured workers, attorneys, insurance carriers, employers, and other interested parties regarding rights and obligations under the Workers’ Compensation Statutes and Rules of Procedure. The role supports early intervention to facilitate dispute resolution and assists other units within the Division of Workers’ Compensation by fielding questions related to this area.

Support is provided through the DOWC Customer Service Call Center and at the public-facing service desk. Responsibilities include fulfilling claim copy requests and background search results as requested. Bilingual English/Spanish skills (speaking, reading, and writing) are used on an as-needed basis and are expected to occur between 25% and 50% of regular work hours.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as front-line information resource for injured workers, attorneys, insurance carriers, employers, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in early intervention to facilitate dispute resolution.
  • Answer inquiries related to DOWC or CDLE; participate as needed in evaluating Spanish language skills of applicants; translate Division statutes, documents, forms, and brochures between English and Spanish.
  • Provide support via the Customer Service Call Center and public service desk.
  • Prepare and process claim copies and background search results.
  • Utilize bilingual skills as required, estimated 25%–50% of regular hours.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience option:
    Four and a half (4.5) years of relevant experience in workers’ compensation duties and processes, risk management, claims adjusting, or insurance industry; plus customer service in a call center environment and/or direct customer support with intermediate to complex data entry.
  • OR

    Education and Experience:

    A combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to four and a half (4.5) years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Call center experience.
  • Experience performing similar duties as a State of Colorado classified employee.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be a current resident of Colorado.
  • Must pass a thorough background check prior to employment, including the E-Verify process.
  • Must be fluent (read, write, speak) in both English and Spanish.

Salary

  • HOURLY: $24.45 - $29.58
  • BIWEEKLY: $1,956.00 - $2,366.40
  • MONTHLY: $4,238.00 - $5,127.20
