As an Assistant Preconstruction Manager, you step into a high‑impact role where your technical expertise, client interaction skills, and leadership potential directly shape project success. You’ll work on projects up to $20M, support larger pursuits, and become a key voice in guiding clients, design teams, and internal partners through the entire preconstruction process.
This is a growth‑track position—ideal for someone who wants to sharpen estimating mastery, lead teams, build client relationships, and advance toward full Preconstruction Manager responsibility.

- Understand project goals and guide the preconstruction process to meet them.
- Participate in proposals, interviews, and client-facing presentations.
- Support business development through networking, events, and relationship-building.
- Lead preconstruction efforts on projects up to $20M; support larger pursuits.
- Coordinate early with operations to align estimates and schedules with execution plans.
- Identify design gaps, budget risks, and constructability issues—and help resolve them.
- Manage preconstruction meetings, documentation, and deliverables.
- Review drawings, define scopes, and build accurate bid lists.
- Perform and review quantity takeoffs, pricing, and estimate development.
- Delegate tasks effectively across estimators and interns.
- Develop alternates, value options, and total project budgets.
- Ensure all estimate documents—clarifications, logs, rate sheets—are complete and accurate.
- Communicate clear scopes to bidders and maintain strong subcontractor relationships.
- Ensure adequate bid coverage and evaluate vendor/subcontractor proposals.
- Lead or participate in bid day activities, scope reviews, and pre‑award meetings.
- Support maintenance of vendor data and subcontractor resources.
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2+ years of commercial construction estimating experience
- Strong plan reading and specification interpretation skills
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Office
- Digital takeoff software
- Procore
- Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a professional, client‑focused approach
- Detail‑oriented, resilient, adaptable, and safety‑minded
