Driving Vallum Associates’ U.S. expansion — launching a contract division focused on delivering top T&D talent to utilities and EPCs nationwide.
We are supporting utility and EPC clients with active and upcoming Transmission & Distribution projects and are seeking an experienced Safety Consultant to support substation and T&D construction sites.
This is a field-embedded role focused on high‑voltage work environments, supporting crews, construction leadership, and client safety requirements throughout active construction.
Responsibilities- Provide on‑site safety oversight for T&D and substation construction projects
- Conduct daily field observations, safety walks, and compliance audits
- Lead toolbox talks, pre‑task plans, and job hazard analyses (JHAs)
- Enforce OSHA, utility, and client‑specific safety programs
- Support energized work safety, grounding, LOTO, and switching activities
- Partner closely with Construction Managers, Superintendents, and crews
- Investigate incidents and near misses; lead corrective actions
- Maintain safety documentation, reporting, and site records
- Promote a proactive, field‑driven safety culture
- Safety experience supporting Transmission & Distribution and/or substation construction
- Strong understanding of high‑voltage electrical safety practices
- Experience working on utility or EPC‑led projects
- Comfortable working in active, fast‑paced construction environments
- Ability to engage crews directly and address unsafe conditions in real time
- OSHA 30
- Utility safety training experience (preferred)
- CHST, CSP, or equivalent certification (preferred)
- First Aid / CPR (preferred)
Additional information:
This role may require regular travel and rotation depending on project location, and offers long‑term contract opportunities tied to ongoing T&D programs.
This role is best suited for safety professionals who understand the realities of substation yards, energized work, and transmission construction and want to be actively involved in field execution.
