Overview

This position is open only to Colorado state residents.

Most State of Colorado employees are eligible for a great benefit package. Teleworking is available on Monday, Tuesday and Friday and this team reports to 1575 Sherman Street on Wednesdays and Thursdays. This can be subject to change based on team needs or other special events that may occur.

About The Division Of Child Welfare

The Child Protection and Prevention Services (CPPS) unit has supervisory oversight of county departments’ child protective services programs, including intake, child abuse investigations, institutional abuse investigations, and child fatality reviews. The unit sets policies and procedures for 64 county departments of human/social services. It administers the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) grant and the Children’s Justice Act (CJA) grant and ensures compliance with federally required activities, programs, and reports in CAPTA and other federally funded grants.

Activities include the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA), human trafficking of minors, and mandated citizen review panels. The unit develops and monitors processes for children/youth eligible for prevention services and provides supervisory oversight of county-level development of services to prevent out-of-home placement. It collaborates with other prevention programs to align prevention services.

Description Of Job

Purpose: This position provides program and administrative support to the Child Protection and Prevention and Youth Services Unit staff and Managers. It leads, manages, and coordinates the day-to-day DCW Complaint Process and provides other Division of Child Welfare/Office of Children Youth and Family programs and administrative assistance duties as assigned.

Job Duties
  • General Support
    • Provide administrative support for 15 Child Prevention and Protection Unit staff including the Unit Manager.
    • Interpret and/or explain program-specific policies, processes, and other guidelines.
    • Coordinate procurement related activities, processes and policies, including purchase orders, payment vouchers, etc.
    • Create, revise and implement unit policies related to workflow, coverage, correspondence and timeliness. Organize and establish work processes to provide support to management.
    • Manage unit P-card.
  • DCW Complaints and Processing
    • Lead, manage and coordinate the day-to-day DCW Complaint Process.
    • Develop and maintain complaint tracking process.
    • Evaluate the efficiency of the established processes.
    • Design and update processes for the Complaint Process.
    • Record complaints daily and ensure records are up to date and saved digitally.
    • Analyze data related to the complaint process; gather data from complaint tracking sheets; report on the number and type of complaints; prepare Data Summary.
    • Collaborate with the Division Deputy Director, County Intermediary Administrator, County Intermediaries, CPP Unit Manager County and County Staff to identify process improvement opportunities.
    • Ensure the successful implementation of the complaint processes.
  • Child Protection and Prevention Unit Support
    • Support the Child Protection Task Group, Differential Response Leadership Council;
      Substance Use Disorder and Substance Exposed Newborn, Human Trafficking Task Group;
      Children’s Justice Act Task Group;
      Child Welfare Prevention Task Group (CWPTG).
    • Provide Core Services Program support.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support department and division objectives.
    • Support other Division of Child Welfare program and administrative duties as assigned.
    • Provide backup assistance to other support staff when they are out of the office when requested.
