Business Origination Specialist – Overview
We are seeking a Business Origination Specialist to join the Origination & Portfolio Optimization Department.
The Department, part of Aramco’s New Business Development (NBD) organization plays a strategic role in shaping the company’s long‑term strategy. It leads efforts in identifying and advancing opportunities that align with Aramco’s strategic direction, including sourcing and evaluating new business opportunities such as joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions (M&A) – both buy‑side and sell‑side.
Key Responsibilities- Generate new business ideas and assess their feasibility.
- Articulate rationale for pursuing identified opportunities, incorporating factors such as alignment with business strategy, market trends, business & commercial impact and risk mitigation.
- Engage with internal and external entities to stay informed about current or emerging business trends.
- Lead and conduct desktop market research.
- Develop business plans & financial models and review models prepared by others.
- Produce thought‑leadership reports describing strategies, financial and operating performance of companies, industries and sectors.
- Manage cross‑functional teams to develop business plans for new opportunities.
- Continuously review and enhance the business origination process with best practices.
- Mentor and coach junior staff members on skill development and the business origination process.
- Track record of originating transactions that result in successful deals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Banking or a related discipline from an accredited university. An advanced degree is a plus.
- Professional certifications such as CFA, CMA, or PMP are a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil and gas, broader energy, technology, professional services, real estate or infrastructure sectors. If an MBA or professional certification is not available, 15 years of relevant experience is required.
- Industry expertise or knowledge of conducting commercial & economic feasibility studies.
- Knowledge of venturing activities such as commercialization, spin‑offs or joint venturing, project development.
- Strong financial background, including experience in financial valuations and modeling.
- Experience with developing deal strategy and market positioning.
- Strong analytical ability to synthesize data from various sources into meaningful insight.
- Experience with market intelligence platforms, analytics and reports.
