Community Parole Officer (Denver Metro) – State of Colorado

- Conduct field work (e.g., pre‑release plan investigations, home visits, job verification, parole violation investigations), including after‑hours contacts with inmates/parolees at their residence of record.
- Apply evidence‑based assessment, case planning and supervision techniques in accordance with policy and standards of practice.
- Direct assessment and supervision plans through analysis of case material and interviews; update the Colorado Transition Accountability Plan (CTAP) incorporating community supervision conditions and parolee goals.
- Monitor parolee compliance and progress by overseeing employment, drug treatment and screening, restitution payments, residential status, and participation in specialized treatment programs.
- Interview and work with parolees using motivational interviewing, coaching, and evidence‑based practices to reinforce pro‑social behavior and develop problem‑solving skills.
- Provide crisis intervention, personal counseling and guidance to parolees in resolving interpersonal, familial and financial problems to enhance parolee success and public safety.
- Investigate violations and impose appropriate sanctions per the Colorado Violation Decision Making Process (CVDMP) or community violation matrix.
- Present case information at evidentiary hearings, including COPD hearings, parole revocation hearings, YOS revocation proceedings, and interstate compact probable cause hearings; serve as hearing officer for COPDs conducted on residential and CRCF parolees.
- Attend training to develop skills in evidence‑based supervision techniques such as motivational interviewing, assessment, case planning and cognitive behavioral interventions.
- Maintain proficiency in firearms, arrest control techniques, CPR and first aid; understand use‑of‑force compliance and POST certification requirements.
- Perform on‑call or callback duties on a 24/7 basis, including arrest and transportation of parolees as a PEACE Officer.
- Complete other job‑related duties as assigned.

- Valid and current P.O.S.T. certification (or equivalent law enforcement certification) from any state; ability to obtain Colorado P.O.S.T. via the provisional process before hiring.
- Or eligibility to obtain Colorado P.O.S.T. through the Federal Reciprocity program before hiring.
- Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
- High‑school diploma or GED.
- No felony convictions or domestic violence history.
- Completion of all modules of the six‑week Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training, including defensive tactics and required assessments.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; if a transcript is unavailable, a professional‑work‑experience substitution of four (4) years in criminal justice, corrections, social work, counseling, or a related field may be accepted.
- Applicants must upload proof of POST certification or eligibility.
- Physical ability to perform defensive tactics, including lifting, striking, and restraining.
- Ability to work various shifts, including nights and rotating schedules; willingness and ability to travel on short notice.
