Purpose

The Trainer Host reports to the Guest Services Manager and will be assigned Trainer Shifts as a secondary role, as business needs require. The position will work closely with the Guest Experience Training Team to provide Onboard Hosts with training and guidance. Additionally, the Trainer Host is accountable for leading by example, delivering services in accordance with the standard operating procedures.

The Trainer Host embodies the vision and culture of Armstrong Collective and behaves as a role model for Canyon Spirit team members.

This position is Safety Alert. This position requires the incumbent to periodically access an active railway area where impaired performance could result in a significant incident affecting the health and safety of team members, guests, team members, the public, property, or the environment.

Key Areas of Accountability
  • Facilitate training of new and returning team members in accordance with our service standards and standard operating procedures throughout the season as directed by your supervisor or Canyon Spirit management.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to specified team members when assigned to the Trainer Host role during the season as directed by your supervisor or Canyon Spirit management.
  • Document a trainee’s progress throughout their training using approved Canyon Spirit tools and technology.
  • Conduct audits when assigned.
  • Assist in establishing and improving standard operating procedures, training documents and programs when assigned.
  • Maintain a professional working environment throughout each journey while fostering teamwork and collaboration with team members.
  • Be open, considerate, and adaptable to the different ways people learn.
  • Demonstrate and train time management in accordance with documented standards.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude presenting Canyon Spirit and fellow teammates in a positive light.
  • Be a role model by performing tasks and training to the standard operating procedures.
  • Be familiar with and educate the trainee on HACCP guidelines, Canyon Spirit, Colorado, and Utah’s policies on food and alcohol.
  • Be available to support additional training activities as directed by Canyon Spirit Management.
Qualifications

Experience/Skills

  • Completion of at least one full season as an Onboard Host (required)
  • Consistent and positive feedback from prior supervisors
  • Consistent delivery of company values with guests and team members
  • Successfully demonstrate the use of adult learning styles
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiar and proficient with Microsoft Suite
