This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days in office Tue/Wed at our Denver office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enhance return‑to‑work efforts for disability, leave of absence and workers' compensation claims; review medical information for temporary and permanent accommodation requests; negotiate, facilitate and monitor successful return to work of teammates; determine specific physical functionalities and vocational skills required for specific teammate positions; contact managers to gather specific job site/employment information and prepare related reports documenting results; assist with job site modification and/or obtaining adaptive equipment necessary;

    ensure medical, legal and accreditation standards are maintained.
  • Manage ADA and other disability claims. Engage in the interactive process with teammates, PSD/PSM and FA/Manager to ensure that reasonable accommodations are made and risk from legal action is mitigated.
  • Analyze complex LOA cases to determine if an accommodation is needed and apply in‑depth knowledge of state and federal regulations to ensure company compliance.
  • Facilitate interactive discussions and assist with implementing creative and compliant return‑to‑work strategies.
  • Coordinate resolution of escalated disability and leave of absence claims; partner with DaVita’s Leave of Absence Third Party Vendor on escalated issues; facilitate “Fitness for Duties” while ensuring compliance with federal, state and company policy; support leave/disability related projects and issues.
  • Proactively identify areas of concern and high risk with individual LOA cases, involve legal when appropriate, and lead calls between managers and legal. Coach managers to negotiate reasonable accommodations or termination when appropriate.
  • Conduct LOA and accommodation training for leaders as needed; answer questions related to Leave of Absence policies and Paid Sick Leave; partner with departments including legal, payroll, worker’s compensation; and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Degree or equivalent;
    College Degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of related experience.
  • Thorough understanding of compliance issues (legal/regulatory) including comprehensive knowledge of FMLA, ADA and other federal/state regulations and state‑specific leave.
  • Excellent knowledge of the application and interpretation of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other federal, state and local laws and regulations governing disabilities and medical procedures.
  • Excellent working knowledge of return‑to‑work (RTW) and/or job accommodation procedures.
