General Purpose of the Position

The Business Process Architect is responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing the business process discipline within the credit union to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and member satisfaction throughout enterprise processes. This position is a key leader in building, evolving, and executing continuous improvement across the organization. This role involves collaborating with various departments to identify process improvements, implementing best practices, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

The role requires a successful track record with Enterprise Excellence, Operational Excellence, or Continuous Improvement with strong planning, project management, task management, and process improvement experience.

Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
  • Lead enterprise process improvement discipline (Center of Excellence, Champions) & develop/execute on a 1-to-3-year roadmap aligned with organizational strategic goals.
  • Develop reports and recommendations based on process metrics for stakeholders, organizational leaders, and others as needed.
Process Design & Optimization
  • Analyze current business processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
  • Design and recommend streamlined processes that enhance operational efficiency and member experience.
  • Develop process documentation, including flowcharts, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor and analyze process data, identifying trends and proposing solutions for process improvement.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Lead (in a matrix environment) cross‑functional teams to evaluate workflows, identify bottlenecks and propose innovative solutions to improve productivity and quality.
  • Work closely with departmental leaders and staff to gather requirements and understand process needs.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings to discuss process changes, gather feedback, and drive consensus.
Project Management
  • Lead or participate in process improvement projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and milestones, and manage resources effectively.
Performance Measurement
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of implemented processes.
  • Monitor and analyze process performance data and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Change Management
  • Ensure training plans are developed and delivered to support smooth adoption of new processes and technologies.
  • Manage change initiatives, including communication plans and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure all processes comply with relevant regulations, standards, and credit union policies.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with process changes or new implementations.
Technology Integration
  • Evaluate and recommend technological solutions that support process improvements and operational goals.
  • Work with IT and vendors to implement and integrate new tools and systems.
Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university in business administration, management, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in business process architecture, process improvement, or a related role, preferably within a financial services or credit union environment.
  • Business Architecture Professional Certificate or similar credential required.
