Job Description & How to Apply Below

Korn Ferry is partnering with our growing, technology client on their search for an Accounting Manager.

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations, own the monthly close process, and strengthen financial infrastructure as they scale. This role requires a hands‑on operator with deep GAAP knowledge, strong SaaS accounting experience, and an ownership mindset capable of delivering results accurately and timely.

The right candidate brings 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, thrives in a fast‑paced SaaS environment, and is comfortable building process where it doesn’t yet exist. This is not a maintenance role — they need someone who can execute, improve, and elevate the function.

Key Responsibilities Monthly Close & Financial Reporting
  • Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules across all balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensure proper revenue recognition under ASC 606, including subscription revenue, deferred revenue, and contract modifications.
  • Review and analyze financial results, identifying variances and ensuring integrity of reported data.
SaaS Revenue & Technical Accounting
  • Maintain and improve deferred revenue schedules and subscription billing reconciliations.
  • Oversee accounting for capitalized software development costs in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ensure proper treatment of commissions (ASC 340), contract assets, and other SaaS‑specific accounting matters.
  • Research and document technical accounting issues and draft accounting memos when required.
  • Support external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and coordination with auditors.
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Serve as internal subject matter expert for Sage Intacct; maintain system integrity and improve workflows.
  • Identify and implement close process improvements to shorten close timelines and reduce manual work.
  • Strengthen internal controls and documentation to support scalability and audit readiness.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Product, Engineering, Sales Ops, and Customer Success to improve data accuracy and accounting processes.
  • Support automation initiatives and system integrations across billing, payments, and financial systems.
Team & Operational Leadership
  • Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations including AR, AP, and general ledger oversight (direct management experience preferred).
  • Develop clear policies and procedures to support growth and operational discipline.
  • Drive accountability around deadlines and financial accuracy.
  • Provide strategic input to finance leadership on cash flow, working capital, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications Experience & Education
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at 2+ years in a senior or managerial role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a SaaS or subscription‑based business preferred.
  • Public accounting background is a plus.
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition and capitalized software accounting.
  • Hands‑on experience with Sage Intacct.
  • Experience working with subscription billing systems and deferred revenue reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills; comfortable working with large datasets and reconciliations.
  • Experience improving or implementing accounting systems and controls.
Core Competencies
  • High ownership mentality — accountable for accuracy and deadlines.
  • Process‑oriented but pragmatic; can build structure without over engineering.
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Clear communicator who can work effectively with non‑finance stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating in a growing company environment where priorities shift and speed matters.
