Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Technical Accounting, to join our growing Accounting Advisory practice. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert in Business Combinations (ASC 805) and Financial Instruments (ASC 470, ASC 480, ASC 815), supporting complex transactions across technology, life sciences, and other high-growth companies.
This is a high-impact, foundational hire as we build a center of excellence in Technical Accounting within the firm. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise and the ability to guide engagement teams and clients through complex accounting matters while helping shape the future of our technical accounting practice.
What You’ll Do- Serve as a technical specialist on business combinations and financial instruments
- Draft technical accounting memos, including purchase accounting analyses and debt/equity classification assessments
- Provide real-time guidance to engagement teams navigating complex transactions
- Prepare client-ready deliverables such as technical memos and presentations explaining accounting conclusions
- Collaborate with directors and partners to ensure consistent technical positions across engagements
- Coordinate with external auditors on technical accounting documentation
- Mentor managers and seniors and provide technical oversight on complex work streams
- Contribute to building standardized methodologies and templates for the firm’s technical accounting practice
- 7–9 years of experience in technical accounting, accounting advisory, or audit
- Deep expertise in ASC 805, ASC 470, ASC 480, and ASC 815
- Experience analyzing complex debt instruments, convertible securities, and embedded derivatives
- Proven ability to draft technical accounting memos independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Big 4 or national firm background strongly preferred
- Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) or technical consultation experience
- M&A transactions, debt restructurings, or convertible financing transactions
- IPO readiness or SEC reporting exposure
- Experience mentoring team members and developing technical methodologies.
