The Assistant Controller will be responsible for the preparation and reporting of the financial position of the company. This individual is responsible for managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly bank reconciliations, monthly journal entries, trial balance preparation, producing financial statements, and tracking and controlling cash flow. Works closely with the Controller, CFO and the senior leadership team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Job Knowledge and Technical
Skills: - Reconcile all balance sheet accounts (including sub‑ledger software systems)
- Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
- Summarize and annotate monthly income statements while making note of the significant events that have an impact on them
- Assist in the determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets
- Prepare and assist in the annual independent audit of Haynes Mechanical Systems
- Monitor the activity of the Accounting Department staff in order to maximize efficiency and minimize errors
- Supervise the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff (track hours worked, PTO/sick time requests, periodic performance reviews, etc.)
- Oversee sales and tax reporting ensuring it is filed accurately and timely

- Respond to customer’s needs in a timely and professional manner

Skills: - Implement policies and procedures that ensure proper checks and balances
- Assist in the establishment and implementation of short and long–range departmental goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures
- Accountability:
- Responsible for the generation, timely presentation, and the analysis of the detailed monthly and/or annual financial reports
- Ensure the integrity of inventory and receivables as reported in our books
- Assure the protection of assets through internal control and internal auditing
- Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; a CPA is preferred
- 5+ years relevant Accounting experience
- Advanced level skills with MS Office suite and accounting/Payroll software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical skills
- 2+ years previous supervisory experience is required
- Experience with Sage / Intacct accounting system a plus
