Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

Newly created Controller role reporting to the Americas CFO, leading accounting and tax for a $1B+ U.S. and Canada business within a global renewable energy platform. This is the senior accounting seat in the region: full ownership of financial reporting, controls, close, audit, tax, and ERP stabilization. This is a role for an experienced leader who can strengthen the balance sheet, sharpen reporting, develop the team, and build an accounting function that can scale with a growing, project-driven business.

High visibility internally, with credible succession potential over time.

• Lead all Americas accounting operations (GL, AP/AR, fixed assets, revenue recognition, USD/CAD consolidations, month-/year-end close).
• Own U.S. GAAP and IFRS compliance, multi-entity consolidations, and federal/state/provincial tax compliance.
• Serve as technical accounting authority; primary liaison to external auditors and tax advisors.
• Strengthen internal controls and balance sheet risk management; deliver accurate, timely reporting to executive leadership.
• Reduce close timeline (currently 4 days) while improving accuracy and transparency.
• Lead post-go-live ERP stabilization (IFS implemented 2024) and drive process automation and system improvements.
• Oversee Americas accounting and tax team (15–20 direct reports initially), with mandate to develop bench strength and succession capability.
• Support M&A due diligence, integration, and project-based accounting across a capital-intensive, construction-driven business.
• Partner with FP&A, Treasury, Shared Services, and Operations to align financial reporting with project execution.

• Active CPA (or international equivalent);
  Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance required.
• 12+ years progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years as Controller or Assistant Controller in a public company environment or equivalent level in public accounting (Big 4/large regional).
• Demonstrated leadership of multi-entity, multi-currency accounting (U.S. GAAP and IFRS).
• Background in project-based industries (energy, construction, infrastructure, mining, telecom, etc.) with direct exposure to project accounting.
• Proven experience leading ERP implementations or post-go-live stabilization (enterprise systems such as SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Dynamics, IFS).
• Track record managing external audits, tax compliance, and internal control frameworks.
• Experience leading and developing accounting teams (10+ direct/indirect reports).
• Willingness to travel 5–15% (primarily U.S. and Canada).
• Able to operate onsite in downtown Denver five days per week.
