Project Accountant

Overview

Position Summary: The Project Accountant will work closely with the accounting and operations departments to oversee all financial aspects of construction projects

• Enter owner contract details and change order information into the accounting system
• Transfer and record subcontractor costs from third-party software into the accounting system
• Initiate new projects by uploading job cost budgets from preconstruction into the accounting system
• Issue manual checks for joint checks and other specific situations
• Work regularly with Project Managers to ensure the accuracy of job costs and projected profitability, including tasks such as WIP, margin confirmation, and aging review
• Help generate and create monthly project specific financials
• Work closely with the Sr. Project Accountant regarding day-to-day tasks and direction
• Maintain clear communication with subcontractors, addressing any paperwork deficiencies and resolving discrepancies between ACS’s records and theirs
• Collaborate with Project Managers to prepare, review, and submit owner billings, and record them in the account system
• Work with Project Managers to ensure compliance with client and lender requirements, including collecting periodic lien waivers
• Accounts Payable - Process and review project and non-project related invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms and company policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) & Bluebeam Revu
• Proficient communication, interpersonal and organization skills
• Must have strong analytical, accuracy, and attention to detail skills

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
• 2-4 years of project accounting experience, preferably in the construction field
• Preferred experience in Sage Software
• Preferred experience in Textura

This role will be located onsite at the Denver office, Monday through Friday. This position requires work in an office setting but would require occasional jobsite visits. PPE will be provided by ACS.
