Description SummaryThe Senior Accountant applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Primary responsibility is monitoring Balance Sheet Prepaid Assets, Fixed Assets, Lease Accounting and Accrued Liabilities in addition assist with Period End Close.
- Prepaid Period Account Analysis on Specific Assets and Accrued Liabilities accounts.
- Track Prepaid, Intangible and Fixed Assets on weekly bases, verify proper posting to General Ledger, that they meet the Company policies and procedures.
- Monitor Accrued Liabilities.
- Work in conjunction with the Budget and Accounts Payable team on all accruals verifying accuracy and reporting.
- Monitor lease agreements and prepare rent schedules.
- Work with tax team on property tax returns.
- Monitor and Audit Company Fixed Assets.
- Review Purchase Orders for Repair & Maintenance to proper classify expenditures.
- Reconcile Equipment in Inventory.
- Reconcile and prepare journal entries for Prepaid asset and intangible amortization. In addition, Period depreciation for all fixed assets.
- Assist with analyzing Balance Sheet Accounts on period basis and report on variances to last period balance.
- Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
- Other projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong understanding of accounting theory and practice
- CPA designation preferred, but not required
- 3- 5+ years accounting/finance experience
- Experience in the retail or restaurant industry preferred
- Highly detail oriented and organized in work
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
- Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
- Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications especially with Excel lookup and pivot tables
- Experience with Great Plains or equivalent and Sage Fixed Asset programs
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
