Job SummaryOperates university vehicles to provide local and long-distance transportation, driving shuttle bus and motor coach, for individuals or groups of students, faculty, staff and other authorized passengers from campus to and from approved destinations. Communicates details of the trip with supervisor, requestor and/or assigned chaperone, such as verifying pick-up and drop-off locations, departure times, lodging/dining arrangements and possible changes. Responsible for ensuring pre and post-trip inspection of as well as correcting deficiencies as able.
Mustinspectandmaintainallfluidlevels,including fuel, and ensuresallsystemsoperationsareinorderbeforedepartures. Must ensure that the vehicle is clean and all loads are secured properly in order to maintain safety at all times. Work is performed under general supervision. Work is reviewedforoverallresultsobtainedandevaluatedbyameritbasedprogramwithinthe
University Staff Performance Evaluation System.

- Provides courteous client service and responds clearly, promptly and politely to guest questions, concerns or requests.
- Provides clients with assistance loading or unloading by offering advice on arrangement and opening and/or closing doors.
- Safely operates all buses to provide transportation for TWU students, staff and faculty in a safe and timely manner to and from designated destinations and return to the Denton Campus as scheduled in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
- Safely operates vans, shuttle buses, and motor coach to provides individual or group transportation service for Chancellor and President or other executive-level staff and faculty to requested local and long-distance locations as scheduled in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
- Safely and effectively operates all equipment and systems installed or provided for vehicles, including disposal of motor coach waste tanks.
- Reports deficiencies that cannot be performed at the operator level immediately to FMCAutomotive Services so the vehicle can be removed from service and diagnostics run and/or necessary repairs made.
- Notifies Fleet Service office of any incidents, accidents, mechanical concerns while or after operating vehicle.
- Reports any incidents or accidents to TWU Department of Public Safety (DPS), assisting in the issuance of SORM Incident Report. Completes necessary accident involving vehicle to Risk Management using appropriate method or form.
- Manages emergency assistance coordination while enroute or at destination and communicates information to passengers and FMC Fleet Services accordingly.
- Responsible for the ensuring daily upkeep, cleaning and appearance of vehicles and for reporting any major problems to direct supervisor at the end of each shift.
- Makes recommendations for professional cleaning or repair of interior, as needed, in daily inspection log for each vehicle.
- Ensures vehicles are properly fueled at both beginning and end of shift or trip, recording all mileage and trip expenditures and/or travel documentation and receipts as required.
- Transports vehicles for cleaning, disposal of waste, inspection, emergency weather protection, and other purposes as assigned.
- Reports any issue, conflict, or unexpected changes to itinerary encountered with or by University students, faculty, staff, chaperones, and other passengers or trip coordinators to supervisor before, during, or after shift or trip, as able.
- Cleans and details fleet vehicles as assigned.
- Performs other duties as requested.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
ExperienceTwo years minimum experience transporting passengers on a 30 passenger bus or larger.
RequirementsMust possess current Class B Commercial Driver's License with passenger (P) endorsement and air brake restriction removed.
