ALL ABOUT GENERAL MERCHANDISE

Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store.

Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, set, pack and ship fulfillment work.

• Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store
• Experience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement
• Experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals

As a General Merchandise Expert, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks
• Engage with guests who need assistance to solve their specific needs
• Thank guests and let them know you’re happy they chose to shop at Target
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader to help achieve goals aligned with business priorities, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and placing promotional signs for GM areas
• Operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures if certified
• Execute processes including changing prices, merchandise set-up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed
• Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability
• Be knowledgeable about resources, products, and services available in the total store and in your area to solve guest issues
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance
• Work safely at all times; comply with safety policies, report hazards and correct where possible
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (e.g., picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders) while maintaining compliance with laws
• All other duties based on business needs

Basic requirements and safety

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
• Climb up and down ladders
• Lift or move merchandise up to 44 pounds and handle merchandise safely
• Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable attendance
• Work in varying temperatures and conditions in roles such as Drive-Up or carryout
• Remain mobile for the duration of a shift
