Job Description
Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors. Responsible for coordinating and facilitating hourly team members in the performance of their assigned duties. Ensuring that company goals of safety, quality and production are met while maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
Description of Duties and Resposabilities
* Motivate diverse workforce in lean processes and safety goals
* Provide personal counseling and keep team members informed of policies and discipline of such policies, procedures and operational changes. Enforce company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner
* Proactive involvement in maintaining safety rules, conducting team member safety meetings, safety education, and improving safety awareness throughtout the organization by correcting unsafe behaviors as they happen
* Initiate and attend meetings to ensure continuous improvement in processes and work habits. Coordinate and encourage team member involvement in team building meetings and projects
* Minimize scrap and maximize efficiency and productivity according to goals for the facility
* Monitor labor reports, payroll reports and make daily updates to computer reports, and cooperate witth all other departments and shifts
* Maintain good housekeeping to improve safety and material flow
* Troubleshooting production problems, coordinating with tool attendant to make sure tools and equipment are available. Initiate continuous process improvements
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
* HS Diploma/GED required. Bachelor's Degree preferred, Engineering a plus.
* Minimum of 3 years' experience supervising production personnel (or similar), preferably including a dynamic shop floor environment
* Thorough knowledge and understanding of mechanical systems and basic electrical principles. Ability to use standard electrical and mechanical measuring devices (i.e. multimeter, micrometer, calipers)
* Solid oral, written and listening communication skills in English
* Requires enthusiam, initiative, and effective judgement in a fast-paced, result-oriented environment. Able to respond effectively to sudden and frequent changes in priorities
* Experienced in computer use of manufacturing software
* Continuous mental and/or visual attention to manufacturing functions. Frequent standing/walking throughout a 12-hour period, with significant time on the production floor
* Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, frequent pulling, pushing and bending. This position will involve work "on" and "off" the shift. The ability to perform visual inspection, including color vision, is a necessity.
