POSITION SUMMARY
The Operations Supervisor supervises labor management, planning and daily operations for inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication. Responsibilities include labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower management, hiring, training, performance appraisals, and problem resolution. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the supervisor maintains service and cost objectives for receiving, warehousing and shipping of products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct staff meetings to review daily and weekly work activities and continuous improvement.
- Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues.
- Develop and manage systems and procedures for operations, equipment and products in a safe and profitable manner in accordance with company policies.
- Implement ongoing cost‑saving measures and suggest operational improvements.
- Meet client‑specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
- Apply sound communication and motivational techniques; supervise, counsel and discipline team members fairly and equitably.
- Assist in hiring, training and professional development; participate in performance evaluation and HR activities.
- Plan daily work schedules, review work orders and customer instructions, assess priorities and assign duties to warehouse staff.
- Review pending jobs, reorganize warehouse space and adjust staffing or supplies as needed.
- Train new staff, assess trainee progress and assign additional duties.
- Maintain awareness of quantity and quality of jobs performed and provide guidance.
- Co‑ordinate supervisory duties among experienced team members and provide daily progress updates to the Manager.
- Support physical operations as needed and deliver results by leveraging the right skills at the right time.
- Motivate team members to focus on customer satisfaction and provide growth and development opportunities.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and support adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3 years’ experience in logistics, distribution or a related environment.
- 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Preferred:
Prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation.
