Job Title: OCI/Senior Cloud Engineer
Location: Denton, TX
Contract Length: 3-6 contract to hire

Cloud / Systems Architecture & Management (65%)
  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • Lead cloud initiatives across multiple platforms, including Azure/O365, Google Workspace, AWS, and OCI.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including environment ownership, documentation, troubleshooting, instance sizing, integrations, and support ticket coordination.
  • Develop cloud migration strategies and collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements.
  • Deploy and configure cloud services using best practices for performance, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or Cloud Formation.
  • Monitor cloud systems for performance, availability, and security events.
  • Implement cloud security controls, IAM policies, backup processes, and redundancy strategies.
  • Optimize cloud spend through resource right-sizing and cost-analysis reporting.
  • Manage and maintain on-premise and cloud systems, ensuring reliability and uptime.
  • Perform system performance testing, troubleshooting, and issue remediation.
  • Write scripts to automate provisioning, configuration, and operational tasks.
  • Document hardware/software standards, requirements, procedures, and system architectures.
  • Respond to incident/problem tickets and provide timely resolution.
Technical Innovation & Project Leadership (25%)
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for cloud technologies and best practices.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to technical staff.
  • Lead cloud-related projects, migrations, and initiatives across the IT organization.
  • Research and evaluate emerging cloud services, proposing improvements and modernization strategies.
  • Promote automation and continuous improvement across cloud environments.
  • Develop short- and long-term strategic plans for cloud infrastructure growth.
  • Document systems, operational procedures, and cross-team processes; encourage cross-training.
  • Participate in budgeting recommendations for cloud environments and future trends.
Participation & Support (10%)
  • Stay current on cloud, automation, virtualization, storage, and security trends.
  • Represent IT in campus-level or customer-level meetings (as applicable).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Education
  • Bachelor s degree required
  • O365/Azure Cloud certification required (must be current OR obtained within 6 months of start date).
Required Experience
  • 7+ years of systems administration or technical support experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on cloud engineering experience.
  • Meaningful, applied experience supporting Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is strongly preferred and highly prioritized.
  • Experience with Azure/O365, Google Workspace, or AWS cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with IaC tools (Terraform, Cloud Formation), scripting, and automation.
  • Experience supporting complex, interconnected server and cloud systems.
  • Experience in higher education or large public-sector environments preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Ability to maintain security and integrity of enterprise infrastructure.
  • Strong scripting skills for user onboarding, provisioning, and cloud automation.
  • Knowledge of system management tools, Microsoft cloud technologies (AADC, GPO, Azure MFA, Exchange, O365), and AWS services (VPC, EC2, RDS, S3, Cloud Trail, etc.).
  • Understanding of monitoring systems, automation frameworks, virtualization, and containerization.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Additional Requirements
  • Reliable onsite attendance is required.
  • Must adhere to security, privacy, and compliance policies.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally work evenings or weekends.
