Registered Respiratory Therapist PRN Tier 1 has advanced knowledge and training of the cardiopulmonary system used to manage and treat patients. Therapists will use different scientific principles, therapies, and techniques to optimize patient care and outcomes.
LocationTHH‑Denton, TX – PRN Day shift.
Essential Functions OfThe Role
- Perform and direct the administration of respiratory care services (oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, inhaled medication, airway clearance, invasive and non‑invasive ventilation, bedside spirometry) as ordered by the attending physician, following established procedures.
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation in emergency situations.
- Review physician orders, analyze diagnostic test results, and provide appropriate therapy based on the patient’s current clinical condition.
- Implement approved protocols as directed by the physician when appropriate.
- Perform routine and advanced respiratory therapy, prioritizing patient needs in a rapidly changing environment.
- Instruct patients in the use of respiratory care equipment in a thorough and professional manner.
- Assess patient responses to therapy and coach patients to improve technique.
- Document all treatments and therapies given, track supplies used, and file all corresponding charges accurately.
- Report outcomes of therapeutic interventions and make recommendations as appropriate.
- Adhere to established policies including infection control and isolation, HIPAA, time and attendance, and social media guidelines.
- Collaborate professionally with other employees, healthcare professionals, and students.
- Take responsibility and initiative to complete any professional or technical requirements set by leadership.
- Incorporate continuous quality improvement principles in all aspects of clinical care, identifying opportunities as appropriate.
- General understanding of respiratory care modalities, therapies, equipment, and medications.
- Ability to read, write, and follow flow‑chart protocols.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- General computer skills, including typing, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning, and email.

- Education:
Associate’s degree or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification. - Experience:
Less than 1 year of experience. - Certification/License/Registration:
- Basic Life Support (BLS): must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP): licensed by the Texas Medical Board.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT): credentialed by the National Board Respiratory Care.
