Job Summary

The Direct Support Professional II works as part of a team providing routine and emergency care, treatment, and training for individuals with intellectual disabilities in a campus-based setting. Responsibilities include grooming, bathing, feeding, monitoring health conditions, observing and reporting behaviors, and participating in individualized training programs. The role may involve driving a state-owned vehicle and providing mentorship to new DSPs.

Responsibilities
  • Attend work regularly, following assigned shift schedule and accommodating rotating or extended shifts as needed.
  • Implement habilitation and rehabilitation, behavior management, crisis intervention, and treatment programs tailored to individual needs.
  • Teach life skills such as feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene.
  • Participate in the development of individual treatment plans.
  • Observe individuals for signs of disease, injury, medication reactions, or other medical indications and document observations accurately.
  • Report significant changes in physical condition or behavior and record information as appropriate.
  • Assist with transportation of individuals for scheduled activities and in emergency situations.
  • Provide meaningful interactions and active participation in individualized training or active treatment programs.
  • Receive training/mentorship to new DSPs and/or volunteer as shift/team lead when required.
  • Drive a state‑owned vehicle when required.
Additional Information
  • Position may be eligible for additional pay for evenings, nights, and/or weekends.
  • Position may also be eligible for additional pay for work performed at maximum security locations.
