This position is a member of our Dallas-Fort Worth regional staff.
ResponsibilitiesHERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Respond to spill and emergency response incidents, conduct investigations, make recommendations for restoration of affected environments, and conduct follow-up investigations. On call 24/7 on a rotation basis, or as scheduled, during which carries agency phone at all times and respond promptly
- Prepare, complete, and review reports related to spill/ emergency response work and remediation plans; make recommendations regarding cleanup findings performed by third- parties.
- Provide routine technical assistance to the public, regulated community, responsible parties, agency staff, and other interested groups; assist in developing emergency response procedures; participate in response meetings and drills; prepare technical papers for presentations.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate various monitoring instruments; conduct sampling activities and evaluate analytical results for compliance with applicable regulations.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Experience coordinating responses to emergency incidents and natural disasters.
Required Education & ExperienceREQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field.
OR
Four years of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities directly related to the examples of work performed.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Natural Resources Specialist II-IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Environmental Investigator II-IV series.
Work ScheduleWork Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Dallas-Fort Worth Regional Office.
