TITLE
Budget & Finance Manager, Merrilee Alexander Kick College of Business and Entrepreneurship
JOB SUMMARYThe Budget & Finance Manager will play a critical role in the financial operations of the Merrilee Alexander Kick College of Business and Entrepreneurship. This position is responsible for analyzing budgetary data, forecasting financial trends, identifying variances, and providing clear, actionable insights to support strategic decision-making within the College. The role also includes monitoring budget-to-actual performance, preparing financial reports, and offering support and training to departments on budget-related processes.
This position requires the ability to interpret organizational policies, procedures, and financial guidelines to provide accurate and effective guidance. The Manager will work closely with the Dean and College leadership to ensure financial integrity and efficiency. Performance is evaluated based on the successful completion of assignments and the impact of financial recommendations.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPSReports to:
Dean, Merrilee Alexander Kick College of Business and Entrepreneurship
Supervises:
Business Manager, Student Assistants, and other clerical staff
May include, but not limited to the following:
- Performs other duties as requested.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related area required. Emphasis in accounting and/or finance is preferred.
EXPERIENCEFour years of substantial and progressively responsible experience in budgeting, budget variance analysis and forecasting, accounting, or related area required. Experience working in a college or university environment preferred.
REQUIREMENTRegular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESThe following are essential:
- Knowledge of budgetary practices and accounting principles.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
- Knowledge of financial methods and/or procedures used to analyze data.
- Knowledge of budget, accounting, and purchasing systems and processes.
- Ability to analyze numerical detail, identify patterns or trends, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to demonstrate analytical, problem solving, and research capabilities and communicate results in a clear and professional manner.
- Ability to apply budgetary and fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints.
- Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize, and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgement.
- Ability to establish, and maintain, positive and productive work relationships with the administration, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and outcomes.
- Ability to communicate and present ideas clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, etc.) and ERP systems.
- Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related university software and email.
- Ability to work independently to complete difficult or complex assignments with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
