Adjunct Professor - Aviation Maintenance

Subject to criminal background check. Employees must reside in Texas or Oklahoma. Resume, cover letter, and unofficial transcripts are required in addition to application. Successful candidate must provide letters of work experience as well. This position is located either at the Denton campus or the US Aviation Academy campus. Travel may be expected between various locations.

Job Summary

This position carries with it the obligation to uphold the Mission of North Central Texas College in carrying out the duties of the position. It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of course and program objectives and to contribute to the overall educational environment of the college and community and to provide related services such as academic advising, committee participation, professional development, community development as well as other service support that is needed in the fulfillment of the North Central Texas College’s Mission.

Responsibilities

and Duties
  • Treat students and colleagues with respect.
  • Active involvement in issues of institutional effectiveness including student learning outcomes, program level outcomes, and marketable skill achievement.
  • Focus on teaching and outreach efforts for student success.
  • Administrative: hold class sessions as scheduled; maintain appropriate records of grades and attendance and submit required to the Division Chair and Registrar on time; post office hours and be available to students during that time; make an appropriate syllabus available to students and the Division Chair in a timely manner; be well organized and prepared for class.
  • Instructional: maintain college level rigor and require a high level of academic excellence from students; use an appropriate variety of instructional methods to enhance learning; develop appropriate tests, projects, and/or other evaluation activities for the courses taught; consider student course evaluations in the improvement of instruction; communicate effectively and in a timely manner with students; provide appropriate feedback on student assignments;

    encourage an atmosphere in which students may ask questions, offer opinions, and express ideas.
  • Institutional: communicate effectively and in a timely manner with colleagues and other college personnel; participate in divisional meetings and activities; serve on college committees; attend and participate in college in-service, workshops, and activities.
  • Professional: keep abreast of developments in the subject area and in instructional techniques; participate in professional development activities; share ideas and materials related to the teaching field and/or pedagogy with colleagues; participate in the peer classroom observation program.
  • Academic advising: advise students regarding class scheduling, degree planning, and give appropriate career advising.
  • Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change based on the needs of the department and the institution.

Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Maintenance or related discipline OR
  • Associate Degree in Aviation Maintenance, or related discipline and three years’ work experience in the area of assigned instruction
