Application Pool Notice
Laredo College continuously accepts applications for part-time (adjunct) instructors to create a pool of candidates for each session/semester. Applications will be reviewed and positions will be filled based on department needs. Applications received for this pool will remain active for one year.
Position Requirements
Upon employment, candidate must reside in the state of Texas.
The Culinary Arts Adjunct Instructor is responsible for preparing students for a career in the hospitality industry, providing technical instruction relevant to the actual work environment using the prescribed course curriculum, exercising methods of recruitment and retention of students, working within and in harmony with the institution's goals and objectives. The Culinary Arts Adjunct Instructor is responsible to provide course instruction and monitor teaching/learning effectiveness in his/her discipline in accordance with the duties as listed in the essential duties and responsibilities and as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean of Workforce Education, or Provost/Vice-President of Academic Affairs in accordance with the Laredo College Manual of Policy.
May be required to teach classes, weekend classes, an extra class, substitute when needed, and travel off campus to monitor student and/or teach classes at lab sites. Perform the duties to include direct preparation and seasoning and cooking of salads, soups, fish, meats, vegetables, desserts, or other foods. May plan and price menu items, order supplies, and keep records and accounts.
Responsible for activities which consist of collaboration with specified personnel and plans and develops recipes and menus, determines production schedules and worker-time requirements to ensure timely delivery of services in the hospitality industry, estimates amounts and costs and requisitions supplies and equipment to ensure efficient operation, evaluates and solves procedural problems to ensure safe and efficient operations in the hospitality sector.
This individual will provide course instruction and monitor teaching/learning effectiveness in his/her discipline in accordance with the duties as listed below and as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean of Workforce Education, Senior Vice-President for Academic & Student Affairs in accordance with the Laredo College Manual of Policy.
