Operations Manager
Overview
The Foreman supervises county road and bridge crews in an assigned district, performs skilled technical work, maintains county machinery and vehicles, and ensures the safety and quality of road and bridge construction and maintenance projects.
Responsibilities- Supervise department personnel, including disciplining, interviewing, hiring, and conducting employee evaluations.
- Schedule and oversee daily work assignments, and complete required daily reports.
- Inspect work sites for quality, compliance with laws, policies, procedures, and safety precautions.
- Ensure employees receive proper training on all departmental processes.
- Maintain on‑call status to respond to emergency and non‑emergency situations.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, determine problems, and resolve them or schedule repairs.
- Prepare and approve budget and purchase order requisitions.
- Ensure regular and punctual attendance.
- Guarantee timely vehicle maintenance and oversee safe disposal of hazardous wastes in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- High School diploma or GED and at least six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Class C driver’s license issued by the State of Texas. Class A Commercial Driver’s License with an N endorsement is preferred.
- Commercial Safety Inspector Certification required.
- Commercial Brake Certification required.
- ASE certification is preferred.
- Other certifications and licenses may be required depending on assignment area.
