The Paramedic will provide quality care to patients of all ages under the direction of the Medical Director and in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Texoma Medical Center. The ED Paramedic reports to the charge nurse for shift assignments and direction of shift duties. The Paramedic will be responsible for the direct and indirect care of patients under the supervision of the Medical Director, including patient care/observation, specified treatments and procedures, environmental and personal safety, and effective communication.
The Paramedic will collect pertinent data within their certification scope of responsibilities and chart appropriately. Working in collaboration with RNs and Medical Providers, the Paramedic will provide care to adult medical and trauma patients using advanced skills and judgment. Responsibilities further include ECG interpretation, IV therapy, and initiation of approved protocol orders and guidelines for patients in the ED setting.
- Completion of an accredited paramedic program.
- One year of experience as a Paramedic in a pre‑hospital or hospital environment (preferred).
- Licensed Paramedic (LP) or Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) in the state of Texas (required). BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider course according to RQI program guidelines and all required Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Healthcare Provider courses will be provided during new hire orientation and must be completed prior to working in a clinical setting. Arrhythmia competency must be demonstrated with a 90% score on testing within 90 days.
Handle With Care certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire. - Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with various healthcare workers, physicians, patients, and family members.
