Bottling Operations Duties
  • Independently operate, monitor, and adjust winery equipment, including bottling, labeling, and packaging machines.
  • Ensure production lines run smoothly and efficiently while maintaining quality control standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance (PMs), troubleshooting, and minor repairs on machinery to minimize downtime.
  • Set up hoses for bottling runs (still, champagne, mimosa) under guidance from senior team members.
  • Properly perform Cleanin Place (CIP) procedures on all equipment.
  • Set up mixers, including both machine and gas mixers.
  • Perform bubble point testing on sterile cartilage (still wine).
  • Proficiently utilize winery apps, including Knack, Innovint, and other systems.
  • Set up all bottling machinery for full production runs and adjust lines until running smoothly.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all bottle molds and changeover parts.
  • Ensure daily checklists are complete for the bottling line and quality control.
  • Adjust machines to prevent inventory item codes from being damaged.
  • Tear down machinery efficiently when applicable.
  • Receive grape trucks and coordinate as scheduled.
  • Run grape press operations and ensure juice is directed to the correct tanks.
  • Lead daily duties, including pack on, pack off, and stacking when assigned.
  • Record production data, report issues, and identify patterns in equipment performance.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, ASI guidelines, and OSHA regulations.
Cellar Operations Duties
  • Perform wine transfers independently, including proper hose setup, pump operation, and valve management.
  • Operate the FOSS wine analyzer to run standard wine analysis (SO2, pH, TA, VA, etc.) and interpret results.
  • Perform wine additions following winemaker specifications and document accurately.
  • Adjust tank thermostat settings to maintain proper fermentation and storage temperatures.
  • Monitor and respond to glycol system alarms and basic temperature control issues.
  • Assist with crossflow filter setup and operation under Specialist 3 guidance.
  • Manage inventory of cellar supplies and notify when reorders are needed.
  • Coordinate with the winemaking team on tank status and wine movements.
  • Troubleshoot basic cellar equipment issues (pumps, valves, temperature probes).
  • Ensure proper documentation of all cellar activities in Innovint and other systems.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Machinery Specialist 1 or equivalent role.
  • Successful completion of Specialist 1 to 2 Training Program (12 months), or equivalent demonstrated competencies.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and proven ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Competency in basic wine analysis using FOSS or similar instrumentation.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with production tracking software and basic computer skills.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and guide less experienced team members.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds or more on a repetitive basis.
