DefinitionThe purpose of this job/class within the organization is to maintain and repair city roads, right of ways and properties. This job/class works under close supervision according to set procedures.
Essential Functions- Maintains and prepares assigned vehicle; checks fluids, filters, removes trash, and loads equipment.
- Installs asphalt, concrete, sod, and other materials in the repair of city roads, right of ways and properties.
- Removes trash and debris from roads, right of ways and properties.
- Mows and trims ponds, easements, and right of ways, pump stations and special detail areas.
- Assists in the installation of underground drainage pipe, rakes swales, sets up barricades and sweeps the road.
- Maintains decorative vegetation, plants trees, adds mulch, and applies weed pesticides and herbicides.
- High School graduation or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year previous experience or training related to concrete, asphalt, landscaping, tree work or sign/signalization is preferred.

- Requires a Class B commercial driver's license, with air brakes and tanker endorsement.
- Valid DOT medical card required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Must possess, or be able to obtain within one (1) year of appointment, an FDOT‑Approved Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification.
- Position is subject to being "on call" and working after normal City work hours as well as on weekends and holidays.
