Beaufort Energy Project Coordinator
The Arctic Energy Alliance (AEA) is a not-for-profit organization, established in 1997 to help communities, consumers, producers, regulators and policy makers to work together to reduce the costs of environmental impacts of energy and utility services in the Northwest Territories (NT). The AEA is supported by various territorial departments and agencies, and does fee‑for‑service work in the private sector. The AEA is currently recruiting a Beaufort Delta Energy Project Coordinator.
Located in in Inuvik but will also involve travel to other NT communities.
Purpose of the PositionThe AEA is a non‑profit organization whose mission is:
- “To lead and facilitate the integration of efficient, renewable and sustainable energy practices in the NWT.”
Reporting to the Executive Director and working together with the AEA team, the Energy Project Coordinator’s role is to assist and support NT individuals, businesses, institutions and communities to implement projects that reduce their energy costs and reduce their energy related greenhouse gas emissions.
The Energy Project Coordinator liaises with appropriate AEA staff for advice, consultation and completion of community projects.
The employee works on multiple projects simultaneously and must prioritize workload in accordance with direction from the ED.
Responsibilities- Supervising staff and subcontractors
The Energy Project Coordinator is not responsible for the supervision of other AEA staff or sub‑contractors. The AEA has a flat organizational structure with a matrix team approach where project leaders manage work plans for specific projects that require the participation of other AEA staff members. The Energy Project Coordinator is expected to coordinate the work and tasks assigned to his/her team members and to keep the Operations Manager informed.
- Managing budgets and programs
The Energy Project Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Supporting the AEA team in writing proposals and applications for funding.
- Supporting the AEA team in reporting back to clients and funding agencies.
- Providing high quality energy project support services to AEA clients
The objectives of the Beaufort Delta Office program are to:
- Increase the financial savings and greenhouse gas emission reductions resulting from AEA’s work with homeowners in the region by assisting homeowners to overcome the barriers they face in implementing the AEA’s advice. This will be measured by evaluating the impact of AEA’s programs and projects completed, compared to previous fiscal years.
- Increase the financial savings and greenhouse gas emission reductions resulting from the AEA’s work with building owners in the region by assisting building owners to overcome the barriers they face in implementing the AEA’s advice. This will be measured by evaluating the impact of any projects that AEA assists in completing, along with other related projects.
- Increase the financial savings and greenhouse gas emission reductions resulting from the AEA’s work with vehicle owners in the region.
The tasks of the Energy Project Coordinator are to:
- Provide basic advice and knowledge on current “northern best energy practices” in the fields of community energy planning, renewable energy and energy efficiency to the public in the Beaufort Delta;
- Complete training in order to keep up to date on current best practices and provide top quality basic advice on energy;
- Work with the AEA’s Energy Management Specialists in Yellowknife to provide expert advice on current “northern best energy practices” in the fields of community energy planning, renewable energy and energy efficiency to the public in Inuvik and the other communities of the Beaufort Delta;
- Ensure that individuals, businesses, institutions and governments in the Beaufort Delta are able to get the technical support they need to complete energy projects – either through AEA or outside sources;
- Deliver presentations on energy and AEA’s programs to schools, individuals (homeowners), businesses and institutions (building owners) and other interested groups in the Beaufort Delta;
