About the Opportunity

ER Steel is looking for a full‑time Structural Engineer based in Delta, BC.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this hands‑on role is accountable for structural design, project coordination, and technical oversight from concept through fabrication. You will play a key role in ensuring engineering quality, compliance, and efficiency while supporting cross‑functional teams and collaborating directly with clients, consultants, and international partners.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performing and reviewing structural analysis and design for conventional steel and pre‑engineered steel building systems in compliance with CSA, AISC, and NBC standards
  • Preparing and validating design calculations, connection designs, and engineering drawings
  • Reviewing and stamping engineering packages, shop drawings, and fabrication details
  • Supporting value engineering initiatives to optimize material efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Guiding projects through all phases, from design and detailing to fabrication and erection
  • Providing technical support, design clarifications, and RFI responses throughout execution
  • Coordinating with clients, architects, contractors, and engineering and design consultants
  • Assisting pre‑contract and sales teams with proposals, estimates, schedules, and schematic designs
  • Collaborating with manufacturing, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project delivery
  • Upholding engineering standards, templates, QA/QC methods, and participating in peer reviews
  • Staying current on building codes, design methods, and industry best practices while contributing to continuous improvement

About You

To qualify, you will need to be a Registered Professional Structural Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing. A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, and experience working with steel, will also be essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Proven experience leading design and engineering projects
  • Strong knowledge of steel structural systems and materials
  • Experience using design and modeling software such as AutoCAD, RISA, ETABS, SAP
    2000, and Revit
  • Demonstrated ability to review and approve shop drawings and fabrication details
  • Experience collaborating with project management and construction teams to resolve technical challenges
