We’re seeking an experienced Senior Construction / Temporary Works Engineer to take a hands-on leadership role in the planning and delivery of major bridge and heavy civil infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in complex construction methods and a practical understanding of how to execute large-scale structural works safely and efficiently.

About the Role

You’ll be responsible for guiding project teams through all stages of construction — from concept to completion — ensuring technical excellence, safety, and quality are upheld throughout. This position requires a strong communicator with proven leadership skills, capable of working collaboratively with clients, designers, and site personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and execution of bridge erection, heavy lifts, and temporary works.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and field teams to meet technical and schedule goals.
  • Develop construction procedures, specifications, and materials selection criteria.
  • Oversee field engineering activities and ensure adherence to regulatory codes and standards.
  • Review and approve design documents, calculations, drawings, and cost estimates.
  • Manage schedules, monitor progress, and resolve technical challenges on site.
  • Prepare contract documentation and participate in tender evaluations.
  • Mentor junior engineers, technologists, and technical staff.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction engineering with a focus on heavy bridge or structural work.
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
    , ideally coupled with professional accreditation (P.Eng or eligibility for registration in BC).
  • In-depth understanding of erection methods, rigging, cranes, jacking systems
    , and field operations.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with ironworker trades and large-scale steel fabrication.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead teams and interface effectively with stakeholders.

This position involves a mix of office, field, and project site work, with flexibility for hybrid arrangements. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment that values initiative and supports professional growth.
