Key responsibilities
We’re looking for an experienced Structural Engineer (P.Eng.) to join our clients’ structural engineering team. This is a hands-on, technically focused role for someone who thrives on solving complex design challenges, reviewing detailed drawings, and ensuring compliance and efficiency across all engineering deliverables. This isn’t your typical engineering leadership role; we’re looking for someone that is a strategic thinker with a practical, hands-on approach, a strong communicator, a skilled problem-solver with sound professional judgment and someone who is organized, proactive, and enthusiastic about working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment….

Areas of responsibility include:
Technical Leadership

Perform and review structural analysis and design for steel and pre-engineered building systems (CSA, AISC, NBC standards).

Prepare and validate design calculations, connection designs, and engineering drawings.

Review and stamp engineering packages, shop drawings, and fabrication details.

Ensure designs meet client specifications, structural integrity, and constructability requirements.

Support value engineering initiatives to optimize designs for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Project Management

Provide technical guidance across all project phases — design, detailing, fabrication, and erection.

Deliver quality designs on time and within budget.

Support project teams with design clarifications, RFIs, and coordination with clients, consultants, and site teams.

Collaborate with third-party engineering, detailing, and design firms to ensure deliverables meet standards.

Assist sales and pre-contract teams with proposals, engineering estimates, schedules, and schematic designs.

Coordinate with manufacturing, procurement, and construction teams for seamless execution.

Partner with clients, architects, and contractors to resolve design challenges.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

Uphold company engineering standards, templates, and calculation methods.

Participate in peer reviews to ensure technical quality and consistency.

Stay current with evolving codes, design methods, and industry best practices.

Contribute to developing technical standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

What the successful candidate will bring:

Registered Professional Structural Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC

7 – 15 years of progressive experience in structural engineering with at least 5 years of heavy industry experience

Proven track record leading design and engineering projects.

Strong knowledge of structural systems, materials, and design software (RISA, ETABS, SAP
2000, Revit).

Experience reviewing and approving shop drawings, fabrication details, and erection drawings.

Hands-on experience collaborating with project management and construction teams.

Background in structural steel and pre-engineered building systems

In return, you can expect:

Competitive salary based on experience ($100,000 - $135,000), however if you have more experience, the range will clearly increase
