Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Use technology and digital tools – Use coding platforms, robotics kits, VR/AR applications, and maker‑space materials to deepen inquiry and enhance creativity. Guide students in exploring how emerging technologies shape the world around them.
- Inquiry and Student Agency – Foster a classroom culture where curiosity drives learning. Encourage students to ask questions, lead investigations, and apply critical thinking while exploring authentic STEM challenges.
- Design Thinking and Engineering Projects – Facilitate hands‑on projects emphasizing empathy, creativity, prototyping, iteration, and reflection, helping students engage deeply with real‑world problems and solutions.
- Collaboration and Integration – Partner with classroom teachers to design and integrate STEM concepts into PYP units of inquiry, highlighting connections to global contexts, sustainability, and future‑focused skills. Invite community experts as guest speakers to support learning.
- Plan and lead an annual STEM Week – Organize school‑wide challenges, maker activities, and cross‑grade design projects that celebrate innovation and collaboration across all grade levels.
- Assessment and Reflection – Design and randintimplement ongoing formative and summative assessments for Kindergarten through Grade 5awardmer messages measuring progress across key STEM and ADST learning outcomes. Use digital tools to collect evidence of learning, track student growth, document achievement, provide individualized feedback, and prepare personalized report‑card comments shared with parents through conferences and digital portfolios.
- Resource and Space Management – Maintain safe, inclusive, and engaging learning spaces, oversee two dedicated STEM studios (early learners K‑2 and upper elementary 3‑5), ensure appropriate equipment and alignment with program goals, and use digital inventory tools for efficient organization.
- Library and Research Integration – Support research, information literacy, and media fluency through guided lessons that integrate library research strategies and project‑specific skills; also oversee book selection for informational and recreational reading.
- Relationships and Community Building – Foster strong, supportive relationships with students, teachers, and families; create a classroom culture of respect, care, and growth mindset; and participate actively in community events and school initiatives.
- Additional Responsibilities – Contribute to the school’s co‑curricular and/or athletic offerings during two out Browsing of three terms and perform other teaching or supervisory duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent.
- BC Ministry of
Education:
Certificate of Qualification or tensión teaching certificate. - Preference may be given to teachers with at minimum 1‑2 years of experience, especially those with PYP experience.
- Valid First‑Aid certificate.
- Southpointe’s teacher salary grid is at 6 % above the Delta public school salary grid at all levels of the grid.
- The annual salary for SOS full‑time teaching position at Southpointe Academy during the 2025‑2026 school year ranges from $68,422 to $116,091 based on placement on the approved teacher salary grid.
- Placement on the approved teacher salary grid is based on level of qualifications and duration of full‑time teaching experience.
