The RN provides high quality, safe, cost effective, total nursing care to the Emergency/Trauma patient and assumes responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the needs of the patient and family members. The RN directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, IQ, infection control, with the goal of discharging the patient from the ED with an optimum level of care provided.
Responsibilities- Provides patients with an optimum level of care.
- Facilitates compliance with evidence-based practice standards for core measures and National Patient Safety Goals.
- Safely administers blood and blood products per hospital policy. Utilizes appropriate interpersonal skills as outlined in the Standards of Conduct and in accordance with customer service initiatives.
- Administers all medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy.
Education: Minimum:
Education recognized by the State of Florida as qualification for Registered Nurse licensure.
Experience: Minimum:
One (1) year experience in a Med/Surg area or
Preferred: Two (2) years’ experience in an Emergency Room setting.
Required Certification/Licensure/Registration:
- Registered Nurse – licensed in the State of Florida.
- American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification.
- PALS are required within one year of employment.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required within six months of employment.
- TNCC required within 18 months of employment in the position; ENPC strongly encouraged. CEN preferred, but not required.
