Position OverviewThe Children’s Ministry Director will provide leadership, operational oversight, volunteer onboarding, and lesson creation for Kingdom Kids (ages birth through 6th grade). This role combines team development, administrative excellence, and volunteer-equipping to create a safe, fun, and impactful Sunday morning environment for children and families.
Church Size: 200-250.
Denomination: Nondenominational.
Job Type: Part-Time, 25 hours/week.
Workplace: Both on-site and flexible.
Weekly Schedule- Sunday program from 8am to 12pm
- Wednesday staff meeting from 9am to 11am
- Weekly 1 Hour Meeting with Executive Pastor
- Support and attendance of all church events when possible
- The remaining hours are flexible
Pay: Part-Time, Salary Commensurate with education and experience.

- Children’s ministry experience preferred either as a volunteer or a ministry leader.
Leadership and Administrative Oversight:
- Aligns with Avenue Church vision, mission, values, and staff culture.
- Stays current on best practices from trusted publications and mentors.
- Ensures a safe environment for children and volunteers by implementing and enforcing policies and procedures, thus maximizing safety and minimizing liability.
- Updates and organizes all records, role checklists, policies and procedures, etc., and makes easily accessible.
- Updates and maintains all children and family information in designated software.
- Helps develop and work within annual budget and oversees purchasing.
Team And Volunteer Development:
- Builds and leads a Leadership Team to help conduct the Children’s Ministry. Team members include a paid scheduler, and may also include others to prepare lessons, manage social media, special events, etc.
- Leads recruitment effort of volunteers around mission critical roles including lead and assistant teachers, admins, captains, etc.
- Follows volunteer policies and procedures including vetting, onboarding, scheduling.
- Ensures volunteers understand, agree to, and follow policies/procedures.
- Along with Leadership Team, expresses regular appreciation to volunteers.
- Plans and provides ongoing training for volunteers.
