The Business Intelligence (BI) Architect designs and implements enterprise-grade BI solutions leveraging the Microsoft technology stack. This role is pivotal in enabling data-driven decision-making across fixed income origination, trading, and wholesale distribution. The ideal candidate will have deep domain expertise in both front and back office of a fixed income financial services organization and the ability to turn data into information through advanced modeling, visualizations and reporting.
Acting as a strategic partner to the business, the BI Architect will lead analytics initiatives, define best practices, and mentor analysts while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Architect and implement BI solutions using Microsoft Fabric.
- Design, build and optimize data models using star schema and Kimball principles.
- Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders, business users, technical teams, and vendors.
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to translate requirements into actionable BI solutions.
- Lead multiple data analytics initiatives across vertical and horizontal domains.
- Drive analytics strategies that support sales and trading operations and various corporate functions.
- Define and enforce BI best practices, standards, and CI/CD pipelines for BI deployments.
- Enable AI-driven analytics.
- Understand, implement and monitor data governance processes and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies, frameworks, and patterns to continuously improve engineering efficiency and quality.
- Collaborate with data engineers to design efficient data pipelines and transformations.
- Guide and mentor BI analysts and developers, fostering a culture of continuous. improvement and innovation.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of data, reporting and analytics experience, including 3+ years in an architectural or lead capacity.
- Expert-level proficiency in semantic data modeling, data warehousing, and reporting.
- Proven professional experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and/or other Microsoft cloud-based data tech such as Azure Data Factory and Synapse.
- Deep understanding of T-SQL, RDMS, Power BI Desktop, Power Query, DAX, Kimball star-schema.
- Deep domain knowledge in financial services with emphasis on fixed income origination, trading, and wholesale distribution.
- Comfortable with building and using CI/CD for BI solutions.
- Hands-on experience with Bloomberg data technology, Salesforce
- Involvement with establishing and enforcing data governance.
- Strong/Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
NICE-TO-HAVE
- Familiarity with structured products, ETFs, private markets, and various fixed income instruments.
- Familiarity with electronic trading and financial risk management.
- Employing Microsoft Purview or some other similar platform for data governance.
- Experience with python, pandas, and notebooks to perform data transformation and analytics.
- Hands-on experience with Pardot, RBC Data Works.
- Experience with AI enablement and data agents
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to use standard office equipment such as a computer, keyboard, phone, and monitor.
- Occasional travel may be required for business or team collaboration purposes.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person and via virtual meetings.
