Dental Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will support dentists and hygienists by preparing patients, assisting during procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and delivering excellent patient care. This role requires strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced dental office.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including four-handed dentistry
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials prior to patient appointments
• Sterilize and maintain dental instruments in compliance with infection control standards
• Take and develop dental X-rays (as permitted by state regulations)
• Prepare patients for treatment and provide post-procedure instructions
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
• Manage dental supplies and inventory
• Schedule appointments and assist with front-office duties as needed
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and dental safety regulations

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program preferred
• Dental Assistant certification or state registration preferred (as applicable)
• Previous experience as a dental assistant strongly preferred
• Knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and terminology
• CPR certification preferred

• Ability to multitask in a busy dental environment
• Proficiency with dental software and electronic health records (EHR)

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Manual dexterity for handling dental instruments
• Ability to lift and move equipment as needed
