Purchased from private physicians in 1994, Avera Medical Group Dell Rapids is a vital link in the primary care network of Avera McKennan Hospital located in Sioux Falls, SD. Two family medicine physicians and 2 APP's are currently in group practice and have a 4-day work week. The call schedule will be 1 in 6 with the addition of another physician.

The clinic, adjacent to the hospital was built and opened in 2007.

Avera Dells Area Hospital is a 23 bed facility providing both inpatient and outpatient services. Included are outpatient consultation and surgery, Emergency Room services, Lab and X-ray and a variety of other services. Numerous specialists from Sioux Falls provide outreach clinics in Dell Rapids such as Orthopedics, Cardiology, Podiatry and Ophthalmology and General Surgery. In the next 3-4 years, Avera Dells Area Hospital will be building a new $25 million dollar hospital.

Dell Rapids has excellent schools with a K-12 parochial school as well as a K-12 public school system. Several colleges and technical schools are available in Sioux Falls and South Dakota State University is located just 35 miles north in Brookings. The University of South Dakota is located just 60 miles south in Vermillion.
