Provide comprehensive technical and administrative support to faculty, researchers, and students in the physics laboratories.
Manage day-to-day operations of physics labs, including setup, maintenance, and cleanup of experiments and equipment.
Coordinate scheduling of lab sessions, practical classes, demonstrations, and research activities.
Prepare, assemble, and calibrate laboratory apparatus, instruments, and materials for undergraduate and postgraduate experiments.
Assist in conducting laboratory sessions, demonstrations, and guiding students during practicals under faculty supervision.
Maintain inventory of laboratory equipment, chemicals, consumables, and ensure timely procurement and stock replenishment.
Ensure systematic record-keeping (physical and digital) of lab usage, equipment maintenance logs, safety audits, and inventory records.
Serve as a liaison between the department, students, faculty, and external vendors/suppliers for lab-related requirements.
Support administrative processes related to lab procurement, maintenance requests, safety compliance, and logistics.
Track follow-ups on equipment repairs, calibrations, deadlines, and action items to ensure smooth lab functioning.
Assist in data entry, reporting, and updates in ERP / laboratory management systems as required.
Handle inquiries from students, faculty, and staff regarding lab facilities, schedules, and safety protocols in a professional manner.
Ensure adherence to institutional safety policies, laboratory protocols, confidentiality norms, and hazard management guidelines.
Assist in preparing lab manuals, safety briefing documents, and instructional materials for experiments.
All other such duties may be assigned by the immediate superior or competent authorities from time to time.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Physics, Applied Physics, Instrumentation, or a related field.
Experience and Skills:
1–4 years of experience as a Lab Assistant, Laboratory Technician, or similar role, preferably in higher education or physics/research laboratories.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and basic laboratory software/tools.
Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.
Knowledge of handling physics laboratory equipment, instruments, and basic troubleshooting.
Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and hazard management.
