Role Summary
You will work at the intersection of geological assessment, materials research, and technology development. The role involves raw material mapping, field investigations, applied research on industrial and natural materials, and supporting development and commercial deployment of technologies and products.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake secondary literature surveys on clay, limestone, industrial wastes, and other cement- and materials-related resources across India and select international geographies, particularly Africa, Asia, and the Pacific.
- Liaise with geology, mining, and allied departments and agencies (e.g. national and state-level institutions) for data collection, validation, and analysis.
- Conduct field visits to mining and material source sites for sample collection, assessment of material quality, and understanding of extraction and logistics considerations.
- Undertake mapping of raw material availability, quantity estimation, and assessment of mining and transportation logistics.
- Coordinate sourcing, handling, and management of raw materials for laboratory testing and analysis.
- Manage and contribute to research on utilisation of industrial waste materials (such as fly ash, mine waste, agricultural residues, limestone, biomass, etc.) for development of value-added materials and products.
- Formulate research methodologies, work plans, and execution strategies in line with programme and funding guidelines.
- Carry out material characterisation, analysis, formulation of compositions, and development of new or improved products.
- Undertake collaborative research with academic and research institutions leading to adoption of relevant technologies and product development.
- Support demonstration, piloting, and commercial deployment of developed technologies and products, including engagement with small-scale and industrial enterprises.
- Provide analytical and testing support to materials, cement, and concrete laboratories as required.
- Ensure quality assurance and timely delivery of technical reports, research outputs, and client deliverables.
- Contribute to proposal writing in line with requirements of funding agencies and programme opportunities.
- Support visibility of work through client engagement and relationship-building to enable repeat collaborations.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong grounding in geology and materials science with applied research orientation.
- Experience in field investigations, material characterisation, and laboratory coordination.
- Ability to translate research findings into practical, deployable technologies.
- Strong technical writing, proposal development, and documentation skills.
- Comfort working across research institutions, laboratories, and industry partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Geology (mandatory)
- Masters degree in a technical discipline such as Materials Science,
- Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or allied fields, with demonstrated
- research experience.
- Candidates with a purely management qualification (e.g. MBA) without technical or research depth will not be considered.
Experience
- 3–10+ years of relevant post-Masters experience, depending on level.
- Experience in applied research, materials characterisation, or industrial materials preferred.
